Amsterdam
The capital of the Netherlands is a city set around bustling canals and beautifully preserved 17th century houses. You can enjoy world class museums featuring artists such as Van Gogh and Rembrandt, or consider the more sombre side of Amsterdam’s history with a visit to Anne Frank’s House. Amsterdam is full of bars and restaurants and offers exciting night life with a vibrant musical scene centred around the numerous jazz cafés.
Where to Sing
The Amsterdam area presents choirs with fantastic performance venues. Our local organiser has access to some of the finest churches in the Netherlands.
English Church, Amsterdam
With a large musical following and a busy lunchtime concert series, singers will enjoy the wonderful acoustics whilst the church’s beautiful Begijnhof courtyard ensures a steady flow of tourists and locals alike.
St Nicolaas en Anthoniuskerk, Monnickendam
Located north of Amsterdam, concerts in the pretty town of Monnickendam attract a loyal local audience. This venue has an especially large performance space for sacred and classical repertoire. Other churches in the area also welcome mixed repertoire performances.
Maria van Jessekerk, Delft
Delft has a local events department which works hard to promote recitals in this beautiful town. Performances in this twin-spired
city-centre church take place on Saturday and Sunday afternoons in summer, when the town is full of tourists and locals.
