Nottingham University Sinfonia and Viva Voce Singers
Here at Rayburn Tours we continually look forward to receiving feedback and experiences from our tours. It’s in this way that we’re able to constantly re-shape our tours to suit the individual needs and requirements of our touring parties. Nottingham University Sinfonia and Viva Voce Singers have just returned from their six day tour of Belgium. Tour party leader Anna Curzon was kind enough to send us a tour report, and has provided us with a great example of the benefits and positive effects touring abroad can bring to any music group.
“Dear Rayburn Tours,
MusSoc arrived back from Belgium at 10pm on Friday night, safe and sound and grinning from ear to ear. Words fail me to describe just how incredible a week it was and it is you that I have to thank for making it just so amazing. It was your expert guidance, help, professionalism, enthusiasm and management that without a doubt made it the best tour I've ever been on, and from what many of my fellow tourers have said, theirs as well. I'm lost for words to express my gratitude so I'm just going to say thank you thank you thank you!!
The venues we played in were absolutely stunning and the concerts were a huge success. Brussels Cathedral was utterly breathtaking and the Allegri Miserere dissolved me to tears in the rehearsal (I'm a sentimental old fool)! As our first venue it exceeded all our expectations and was an incredible way to begin the tour. The acoustic in the Church of Our Lady in Bruges was phenomenal. The first thing we sung in rehearsal was the Gloria from the Mass and as the C major chord rung out there were gasps of amazement from the choir and orchestra!
Our hostel in Leuven was fantastic as well. Modern, spacious, clean, lovely large bar (!), great breakfasts, power showers and helpful staff. It was also in a perfect location. A 15 minute walk and we were in the centre of Leuven with its stunning architecture, clean, safe streets and an infinite number of bars restaurants and clubs that served us extremely well over the week. It was the perfect size town to be staying in and its aesthetics and nightlife far exceeded mine and everyone's expectations- people were blown away and I cannot thank you enough for suggesting it to me, I couldn't have asked for anywhere better.
All of our excursions and day trips were a huge success. The canal trip in Bruges and the tour of the Stella Brewery were just brilliant. It was so wonderful to have come away from Belgium and having got a taster for Bruges, Brussels and Ghent all in one trip. So many people are keen to go back and explore them further.
I could go on for ever with excitement, but I'll stop here. Organising this tour has been a fantastic learning curve for me, and I want to thank you both for being so patient with me and all my questions and giving me the confidence to carry it through. We also recorded our concerts, so once these are up on the MusSoc website I'll let you know and you can have a listen. I'm going to feel very lost without emails to reply to but I hope we'll keep in touch and I will be sure to recommend Rayburn to next year’s manager.
Speak to you soon and many, many thanks again,
Anna Curzon
