Normandy

From the wonderfully preserved port of Honfleur to the modern and bustling Caen, Normandy is a fantastic destination for your tour. For culture and art look no further than the world famous Bayeux tapestry or the magnificent Mont St Michel, one of the most sacred sites in Europe. The D-Day landing sites can also be visited by those of you who have an interest in modern history. Why not consider a morning recital in one of Caen’s beautiful churches followed by an afternoon liqueur tasting at Château de Breuil, where you can also enjoy a tour of the Calvados distillery?

The areas around Caen offer your choir a number of excellent venues.

St Patrice Church and Bayeux Cathedral – Bayeux

In Bayeux, a lovely town only 30 minutes from Caen, it is possible to perform in St Patrice church - a welcoming and quaint venue with a passionate and loyal congregation.

Argentan – St Germain

A great welcome and friendly audience make concerts at this impressive church very memorable. One of our favourite venues in this region and ideal for groups with a classical or sacred repertoire.

Rouen Cathedral - Rouen

For choirs wishing to perform a morning recital, Rouen Cathedral is a prestigious venue offering our groups the opportunity to participate in mass.

Abbaye-aux-Hommes – Caen

In Caen, the beautiful Abbaye aux Hommes Church is part of the monastery and is an extremely prestigious venue, where choirs can perform concerts or participate in mass.

Bayeux

This stunning medieval town is of course home to the famous Bayeux Tapestry. It is also possible to visit the cathedral, as well as the War Museum and moving British cemetery nearby.

Arromanches-les-Bains

This seaside town has a history closely linked to the Second World War as a temporary harbour which was built just off the beaches to unload the Allied Forces’ boats and weapons. A 360-degree cinema shows original footage of the war and how it affected the local area along with present day footage.

Mont St Michel

A stunning town and abbey perched on a rocky outcrop protruding into the sea. The only approach is over a causeway, covered at high tide. This is a truly wonderful day excursion, only 90 minutes from Caen. With many beautiful craft shops, visitors can enjoy stunning views of the bay from the top of the town.

Honfleur

This seaside town has a wonderful picturesque old harbour and many lovely shops and restaurants. A guided tour of the town is highly recommended.

Tasty experiences!

Normandy is famous for its cheese, cider, calvados and caramels and there are many possibilities to visit cider farms, calvados distilleries, caramel factories and cheese factories where visitors can see the processes involved in production and more importantly taste and buy the finished product!
