Choir Tours to Prague
A country for all seasons; in summer, the streets come to life with entertainers and stalls which celebrate the Czech culture whereas, in winter months, visitors wrap up warm to enjoy the natural beauty of the landscapes and appreciate the hearty cuisine.
Most of our choirs base themselves in the country’s capital, Prague. Often referred to as the ‘City of a Hundred Spires’, the city boasts grand palaces and ornate baroque churches linked by winding medieval streets, all dominated by the magnificent castle, Pražský hrad. The city lends itself to many exciting and original adventures including a buffet dinner cruise on the River Vltava, an authentic Czech folklore evening, a tour of the castle or a visit to the impressive Krizik Fountain Show . This majestic city has something for every member of your choir.
Outside Prague, the country has much to offer; from the elegant spa towns of Western Bohemia to the historic castles and monasteries of the southern regions which let you experience the strong traditions and rich history of the Czech Republic.
Where to Sing
St. Vitus Cathedral at Prague Castle
Situated within the magnificent Prague Castle, singing Mass at the Catholic Cathedral of St. Vitus is an awe-inspiring experience for all. The cathedral’s towers dominate Prague’s skyline and, as you gaze up at the vast, vaulted nave, it is no surprise that this cathedral is the largest and considered the most important church in Prague.
Czech Museum of Music
Located in a 17th century monastery building, this impressive museum explores the relationship between man and musical instrument and features an extensive collection of instruments. Following your guided tour, the grand atrium is the perfect setting for your choir’s concert.
St. Nicholas Church
A highlight for many groups is the opportunity to perform in this beautiful Baroque church. Located in the heart of Prague on the Old Town Square, the white exterior stands proud against the hustle and bustle of the square below. The venue accepts a mixed repertoire making it suitable for your choir to take part in the regular lunchtime series.
Towns Outside Prague
We highly recommend venturing outside the city to experience the hospitality found in the nearby Czech towns. In the beautiful spa town of Marianske Lazne, the breathtakingly ornate colonnade makes a stunning performance venue where, following the musical display from the town’s ‘singing’ fountain, the gathered tourists become your audience. In the town of Lysa nad Labem, it is the local residents who will offer your choir a warm reception at the town’s Catholic church.
Attracting Your Audience
Attracting Your Audience
We work extremely closely with our concert providers in Prague. Invitations are sent to the 2,000 concert goers on its mailing list and an RSVP is requested; this enables the company to ensure good audience numbers. Posters and flyers will also be distributed on your behalf to the communities surrounding Prague.
What to Do
Whether you choose to stay in Prague or venture out into the surrounding countryside, there is plenty to keep you entertained. An hour’s journey east of Prague will take you to Kutná Hora, a former silver mining town which in medieval times was one of the wealthiest in the kingdom. Here, your choir can enter the famous Ossuary (church of bones), the medieval silver mine or the exceptionally beautiful Gothic Cathedral of St. Barbara. This trip works particularly well when combined with an afternoon or evening concert in the spa hall in Podêbrady.
If you’d prefer to stay in Prague, apart from strolling the winding cobbled streets, browsing the shops and waiting for the Astronomical Clock to toll the hour, no Czech tour is complete without a visit through Matthias Gate into Prague Castle. Be there at noon to watch the changing of the guard before strolling past the quaint, coloured houses which make up Goldmakers’ Lane.
For something a little different, climb aboard for a buffet supper as you cruise along the River Vltava – a truly relaxing way to see the sights. The two-hour cruise takes you through a lock on the Vltava and continues down towards the iconic Charles Bridge, with its 30 Baroque statues, artisans and souvenir vendors, to the Castle District, which is beautifully illuminated at night.
