Youth Music Tours to Rome, Italy

Rome is one of the most ancient cities in Europe, with over 3,000 years of history, culture and architecture. Steeped with intrigue and drama, a visit to the Eternal City is an excellent way of introducing your students to the delicate link between Roman culture as it is written in drama and play, and the expression of this culture still demonstrated today in its architecture.

San Silvestro in Capite Church

The notable minor basilica of San Silvestro is a delightful church, centrally located just around the corner from the Trevi Fountain. The richly decorated interior offers a fine setting for an evening performance surrounded by 16th Century frescoes, striking marble and attractive gilding. Nominated as the National Church in Rome of Great Britain, the church is run by English-speaking priests who will undoubtedly give your choir a warm welcome.

Sant’Andrea della Valle Church

The setting for Act I of Puccini’s Tosca, Sant’Andrea della Valle provides a marvellous stage for any performing choir. This impressive basilica church adorns one of Rome’s main streets and is within easy walking distance of Piazza Navona. Choirs have the opportunity to perform under the splendid dome, or participate in a mass service.

St Peter’s Basilica

Experience the majesty and splendour of one of the world’s largest churches with a participation in mass at St Peter’s Basilica. Despite its immense proportions, the basilica’s wonderful interior affords a favourable acoustic for even the smallest of choirs. Impress the locals and tourists alike who flock to both weekday and weekend services.

The Coliseum

The most famous monument in Ancient Rome, the Coliseum is considered one of the greatest feats of Roman architecture and engineering, seating up to 60,000 citizens. Venturing inside its walls provides visitors with an understanding of the complex political history behind the ancient remains, and can demonstrate the use and abuse of Roman power.

The Vatican Museums

The collections in the Vatican Museums include works by some of the world’s finest artists accumulated from around the world by numerous papal leaders. The highlight for most visitors is the Sistine Chapel painted by Michelangelo and commissioned by Pope Julius II della Rovere. The work was completed between 1508 and 1512 and although Michelangelo is reported to have resented the commission, the ceiling and the Last Judgment are two of his finest works. Also available to visit on the tour is the Hall of Maps, Raphael’s rooms and other timeless masterpieces by Da Vinci, Caravaggio and Titian.

Gladiator Training School

Located just outside Rome in stunning surroundings, the Roman Army Training Camp and Gladiator school allows your group to get a ‘hands on’ experience which introduces you to the life of a gladiator.

Handling replicas of weaponry, and wearing authentic armoury and clothing, your group will take part in gladiator training and, for those deemed worthy enough to appear in the arena, a final battle.

The Time Elevator

The Time Elevator is a multi-sensorial attraction combining education and entertainment to show 3000 years of Roman history, from Romulus and Remus up to the present day, in an exiting and fun way.
