Musee des Beaux-Arts
Nice boasts a wealth of rich history which can be appreciated by a visit to the impressive fine arts museum, Musée des Beaux-Arts. Your students will look in wonder at collections that retrace the history of art from the 16th to the 20th Century, and a gain a real cultural understanding of the city. It’s the perfect chance for them to practise their French by listening to, interpreting and speaking about the artwork, broadening their knowledge and sharing ideas.
Museum of Natural History
Step back in time to the Museum of Natural History. Founded in 1846, it’s one of the oldest museums in Nice and a must-visit for all! The zoological, vegetable and geological collections are the main highlights, but students will also enjoy exploring the drawing and photo galleries. With so much to see and do the museum really brings history to life. The exhibits will draw your students’ attention to the frailty of certain life forms and ecosystems, as well as allow them to develop their language skills in new and exciting topics.
Walking tour of the city
We recommend delving into the city’s history by exploring the Old Town and taking in the ancient architecture, immersing yourself in the city’s former identity. With a walking tour, you can experience the thriving hub of activity that is Nice with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants to keep you entertained. Tours can be offered in French or English, and encouraging students to ask questions throughout is a great way for them to practice their French in a friendly environment.
Roll the dice and head for the luxurious Monte Carlo! Among all the thrill of the swanky casinos, high-end boutiques and Vegas-esque vibe lies a city steeped in rich culture and history. Explore lush and varied gardens and practice your French at the local market. Conversing with residents is a great way for your students to develop their language skills and make them feel like a true local. For something really special take a trip to Monaco Cathedral. Built in 1875 with brilliant white stones and intricate architecture, this monument is an impressive sight to behold.
Home to the famous Cannes Film Festival, this city exudes glamour, wealth and a real sense of ooh-la-la. Walk by the couture shops and palaces of La Croisette, or pass some time celebrity-spotting among the lavish cars and yachts. But even with all the glitz and glamour, there’s plenty of natural beauty for you to gaze in awe at. The harbour, the bay and a handful of islands off the coast offer some incredible views, and your students are sure to fall in love with this desirable city. Not only that, but it’s a great place for them to develop their French vocabulary and converse with other visitors, giving them a real taste of high-end France.
