Berlin and Kraków
Why have a Two Centre tour?
A tour to both Berlin and Kraków will give students the opportunity to see how and why important political decisions were made, as well as seeing for themselves the devastating consequences these decisions had for ordinary people. In Berlin, your students will learn about how and why the Final Solution was put into place, and will see in Kraków the outcome of this decision in a truly heart rendering and thought provoking visit to Auschwitz.
Suggested Itinerary
Day 1
- Arrive at Berlin Schönefeld or Tegel airport
- 3 Hour Guided Walking Tour of Berlin
- Enjoy an evening meal at your hotel / hostel
Day 2
- Morning visit to Topography of Terror and Checkpoint Charlie
- Afternoon excursion to the Fernsehturm (TV Tower)
- Evening meal at your hotel / hostel
Day 3
- Morning visit to the Reichstag followed by the Jewish Museum
- Afternoon excursion to the Story of Berlin Museum
- Depart Berlin by overnight coach to Kraków
Day 4
- Arrive in Kraków for breakfast at a local hotel
- Meet guide for full day excursion to Auschwitz Concentration Camp and Birkenau
- Group depart on foot to a traditional Polish restaurant for a Folklore evening and a 3-course meal
Day 5
- Visit to the Wieliczka Salt Mines
- Depart by air from Kraków to the UK

Accommodation
Meininger Hostel
Within Berlin we recommend the Meininger Youth Hostels. This chain has a number of hostels all ideally located in central Berlin and within a few minutes walk from the U/S-Bahn stations. These hostels offer superb quality accommodation all with en suite facilities. All of the hostels are either new builds or recently renovated to a very high standard and will make your group feel very welcome. DVD facilities are available on request.
Batory BIS Hotel
The Polish two-star Batory BIS Hotel is conveniently located approximately 0.5km from the Old Town’s Historic centre. All major tourist attractions, restaurants and shops are within easy reach of your accommodation. Students will be accommodated in multi-bedded rooms and staff in twins, all with private facilities.
