Germany

Harz Mountains

The Harz region is an undulating and densely forested area with mountains, gorges, caves and lakes and scattered with small towns and villages (some of which go back a thousand years) with the most exquisite and carefully preserved architecture.

The area is rich in fascinating museums and places of interest, a number of which are linked with the mines on which the prosperity of many towns depended for centuries. Despite these attractions the Harz has not yet been blighted by tourism, which means groups can visit 'historic' Germany and explore some most attractive yet unspoilt places. Goslar, with its thousand year history is just one of the many renovated and preserved beautiful old towns with a picture postcard view at almost every turn.
