Budapest
Why Budapest?
It’s no exaggeration to say that Budapest is one of the finest capital cities in Europe and also one of the best situated. With the majestic Danube running through the historic centre and the contrast between Buda, built into the hills, and Pest, on the water’s edge, it is truly an exceptional city.
Opt for a guided tour of the capital, which includes the Parliament Building and the Fishermen’s Bastion. Stroll across the Chain Bridge for shopping in the pedestrianised area. Popular excursions outside the city include a day trip to the towns and villages on the Danube Bend. Szentendre is particularly beautiful and has a wonderful bohemian air, thanks to the traditional arts and crafts made and sold here.
Many groups also enjoy the Puzsta horse show on the Hungarian plains. Combined with a traditional Hungarian lunch, this is a memorable day with an interesting insight into local customs.
Where to Perform
St Stephen’s Basilica
Undoubtedly one of the most impressive buildings in Budapest, St Stephen’s welcomes groups for a recital or participation in Mass.
Esztergom
The town of Esztergom, on the border with Slovakia, offers a number of excellent performance opportunities. The magnificent basilica dominates the skyline, and the acoustic is breathtaking, whilst the castle offers an outdoor amphitheatre and an indoor Hall.
Szentendre
This is a popular town for visitors from Budapest, due to its picturesque surroundings and the many local arts and craft sold here. The main square proves to be a great venue for visiting bands.
