Edinburgh

Why Edinburgh?

The thriving, bustling and cosmopolitan capital of Scotland is one of the cultural treasures of the UK. An abundance of historic locations, modern shops and a performing arts scene on a world-class scale make Edinburgh an exciting and rewarding destination for young musicians.

Churches

Edinburgh’s many churches welcome choirs and orchestras with a serious repertoire and are often used from July to September as performance venues by the Fringe. Famous names such as Canongate Church, St Giles, St Cuthbert’s and St Patrick’s all have an active performance programme.

Edinburgh Castle

Edinburgh Castle is one of the city’s most prominent landmarks and offers The Great Hall as a superb performance venue for many groups.

Outdoor Venues

The city also has a lively outdoor events programme suitable for bands, performing in venues such as the Royal Botanical Gardens or St Andrew’s Square Gardens.
