Do school trips need a passport to Spain?
Yes, if groups from the UK are embarking on educational trips Spain, students (and staff) will need a valid passport.

Here’s why:

Spain is in the Schengen Area (European Union), and UK citizens no longer have freedom of movement after Brexit.

A passport is required for entry into Spain (an ID card is not enough for UK nationals).

The passport must usually be valid for at least 3 months after the date of leaving Spain and issued within the last 10 years.

Visas are not required for short stays (up to 90 days in 180) for UK citizens, so school trips normally don’t need one.

If the group includes students who are not UK nationals, the school should check their nationality-specific entry rules (some may need a Schengen visa). Get ready for high school trips to Spain!
