Well, Faringdon College are here in Iceland safe and sound (quite a lot of sound, actually – but happy sound!). Everyone seems to be in very good spirits and already much has been seen.
The Icelandair flight was 20 minutes early in arriving so this allowed the Blue Lagoon to be thoroughly enjoyed very soon after landing. The weather is still calm and dry, definite bonuses. Both en route to the Blue lagoon and afterwards, whilst travelling to the group’s accommodation, raw, volcanic landscapes of blocky lava flows (richly moss covered), volcanic cones and volcanic plateaux were passed.
The group have now been well fed with home made mushroom soup and home made bread, salad items and then delicious carrot cake (again, home made). The group is now outside (in the grounds of the accommodation, with the teachers) looking for the Northern Lights.
Soon to bed and good rest, ready for tomorrow’s adventures (tectonic rifts, gushing geysers and Gullfoss).
Ian Hardie.
