We have had a really busy day today. Departing school at 1am we had a 3 hour journey to Dublin, followed by a 3 hour flight to Rome. A number of pupils got a snooze either on the coach or on the plane.
We departed Rome on two coaches at 11:30am and headed off on a long jaunt towards Solfatara, stopping at a fabulous wee cafe en route. Spirits were very high throughout the day and we arrived at Solfatara at 3pm. It was definitely a nasal experience with sulphurous fumaroles emitting their gases into the atmosphere. Everyone enjoyed the experience.
Then we set off on the last leg of our journey to the hotel (Hotel del Mare) in Sorrento. The welcome was amazing, the rooms spotless and the food great. At present everyone is nicely tucked into bed to rest for Pompeii and Vesuvius tomorrow.
