Day 4 in NYC!

Last updated: Jan 30th, 2019

On day 4 of the NYC tour we woke up at 7:30am and had the standard breakfast of bagels and muffins. We set off walking for Central Park at 8:45 in good spirits and reached our destination at 9:20. Walking through Central Park we came across a cancer research sponsored run with thousands of people running and supporting a great cause. Walking towards the sports field a few members walked over and politely asked a local soccer or football team to borrow a football. Talking to the head coach Sajiv, some of the lads volunteered to help out coaching in a football session with some young special needs children. In the session the lads did some basic passing drills which they set up and ran themselves engaging the children fully, with everyone enjoying themselves. Two of the coaches work for the New York Red Bulls soccer team and kindly donated a signed football to take as a souvenir to remember the great experience. The session came to an end and the lads got a picture with the whole team rounding off a great morning. This raised everyone’s spirits ahead of a long day shopping.

After a short metro ride we experienced the true New York shopping experience in and around the Rockefeller center. We moved on to the ice rink with Mr Sleight showing off his ice skating skills as well as numerous people showing their lack of ice skating experience – particularly Ollie D and Tom D.  Besides this everyone had a good time and were reluctant to get off the ice.

We rounded off a great day with a visit to Planet Hollywood with lots of food and drink in a great Hollywood setting. Finally after a good meal and even better day we headed back to the hostel for an early night.
