Day 3 in Italy- Capri

Last updated: Mar 28th, 2024

We walked from the hotel, up a very steep flight of steps into Sorrento town centre before descending a very steep path to the harbour which was at least 100m below us. Easy enough to go down, not so for the ascent later in the evening.

27 of the girls chose to go to the Blue Grotto. We were taken by a small boat to the cave where we boarded a very small rowing boat and were told to sit on the floor! A strange request we thought…until we realised we had to travel through the tiniest cave ever. After a bit of screaming (thinking we wouldn’t fit through it) we emerged into a serene place of beautiful clear blue water. The cave echoed with the sounds of the rowers singing beautiful Italian ballads which reverberated around the inside of the caves. What an experience. The girls (and staff) had a real laugh, despite the expense.

On return from the Blue Grotto we ascended to Capri where the views were spectacular, the shops expensive (but great to see) but the whole experience was magical.

Yet another fabulous day in Italy.
