Rayburn Sports Tours Donates Sports Kit to School

Last updated: Jan 30th, 2019

It’s fair to say that the promised summer of sport has not disappointed so far! Rory McIlroy’s imperious display of golf at The Open, Novak Djockovic once again celebrating the Wimbledon title at SW19 and of course, Germany’s incredible performance at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil. We won’t, however, mention the cricket.

It seemed only right to celebrate here in the Rayburn Sports Tours office by hosting our very own competition online. Our unique approach to combining sports tours with education is part of a bigger commitment to school sports. All our trips aim to go beyond simply facilitating our teams’ travel needs; we want students to take away a sense of the culture, history and ethos of the places and institutions they visit and match them to curricular learning in other Key Stage subjects

Therefore our competition was designed to make a positive difference to school sport. For each goal both Brazil and England went on to score throughout the tournament, £10 would be donated to one lucky school to put towards the purchase of brand new school sports kit.

The catch? None at all.

All followers of @RayburnSports on Twitter were invited to enter the competition, simply by retweeting our competition banner through their own accounts. After a total of 13 goals were scored, the prize pot sat at £130, a great amount to set a school on the way to a newly stocked sports cupboard.

At exactly 17:00h on 14th of July the winner was announced: Steve Halsey of Caroline Chisholm School in Northampton!

As a seasoned tourist, we are proud to present this prize to a fantastic member of the PE community. Congratulations Steve, we hope this goes some way to helping Caroline Chisholm School achieve every success in school sports.
