After the concert we piled back on to the coach and travelled to Valkenburg for a traditional Dutch meal of soup and pancakes.
It was a very warm evening and our restaurant booking had placed the group was sat inside. Unfortunately the logistics of serving over 40 people didn’t run as smoothly as hoped and it took far longer to serve everyone than was ideal.
At least there was free Wi-Fi in the restaurant, which kept some people occupied, while they waited.
In the heat many people ended up having to leave their table just to get some fresh air, which rather spoiled the intention of us all eating together. The serving staff did the best they could, but we were very late finishing the meal before heading back to Aachen and the hotel.
It was a shame, because up till then all the arrangements had been great.
Once back at the hotel, the more energetic members of the group headed into Aachen to discover the night spots – some returning only in the wee small hours of the next morning. 🙂
