Day 5 Las Vegas / Los Angeles

Last updated: Jan 30th, 2019

Up early again today ready for another pancake breakfast. Celebrations this morning as Mr W was turning the big 50!! Rival school had arrived from the UK so there was a rush for the pancake iron today but clearly we had the upper hand as we had all already worked out how to use it without splattering the curtains too much in the process !
After breakfast a quick nip back to the rooms to grab cases and meet at the coach ! Farewell Las Vegas … Onwards to Los Angeles …

The trip was not too long passing some changing landscapes and towns. We stopped at Barstow station on route for a snack and found a Dunkin Donuts too and eat in old railway carriages to eat ! Our fantastic driver Earl got us safely to Los Angeles about 1.00pm and that gave us time to check into the Kawada hotel in downtown LA before heading into the city!
Downtown LA – driven by the amazing Harold – photo of the famous HOLLYWOOD sign , Manns Chinese theatre and all the foot and handprints along with the Stars accompanied by our new tour guide Nicola.
Back on the bus after a quick bite to eat and down to Santa Monica beach and pier! Most people paddled and sat on the beautiful beach but three brave people braved the chilly Pacific and went for a good swim . Some people went to have a look about on the famous Santa Monica pier while other chose to play a little rugby on the beach or relax .
After drying out – back in the bus for a tour of Venice and the area back in LA including city hall ( used in ghostbusters and batman) and Pasadena – the oldest part of LA where parties were going on in the park! The singing on the bus was top standard and included an eclectic mix of Welsh songs, rugby songs and songs the teachers had never heard of !
Then the party started a as we said goodbye to Nicole Harold took over ! Party time with Queens best hits and 46 fantastic singers !
After saying goodnight to the brilliant Harold who really made the bus journey fantastic we headed to the Artesian pit fire Pizza restaurant in downtown LA.
A lovely meal with pizzas, pasta etc and plenty left to take home after !
Home to bed ready for the next day!
