At very short notice, representatives from Rayburn Sports Tours started our 4 hour journey to Cramlington Learning Village, Northumberland, for the inaugural North-East Physical Education Conference. Supported by the Youth Sport Trust, the Association for Physical Education and Northumberland Sport, a fantastic line-up of workshops and speeches led by expert practitioners set the scene for a very professional event.

Topping the bill, Stephen Miller, 3 time Paralympic gold medallist and winner of 26 international medals throughout his 15 year career. Being born with cerebral palsy, Stephen has beaten his condition, studying to gain a 2-1 honours degree in Business Information Systems from the University of Northumbria and continued to have glittering career in sport. Born in Cramlington, Stephen’s connection to the area is still very strong, leaving no doubt that he is very much a local celebrity!

Delegates were invited to attend speaker sessions and workshops, followed by time to catch up with colleagues from across the region. Next it was the turn of a range of exhibitors, including ourselves to showcase our range of products and services, all aimed at enhancing the provision of physical education in schools. At the Rayburn Sports Tours stand, the opportunity to win a case of wine drew quite a crowd, along with the opportunity to find out more about our fantastic educational sports tours and festivals.

We are pleased to announce that the winner of this well timed prize (Christmas is coming!) was Caroline Davis of Marden High School! Many congratulations from all at Rayburn Sports Tours.

Our overall experience at this event was fantastic. Professionally run, a smooth itinerary being the backbone of the event, supported by top speakers and a great group of delegates that came together to create a valuable learning experience for all. We look forward to attending next year!
