It’s an exciting time for us at the moment as we’ve teamed up with the Geographical Association International Special Interest Group to offer a truly unique trip to Singapore and Malaysia. Each year the group organise an overseas study tour to introduce geographical educators to key aspects of the contemporary geography of the chosen destination, and this year Rayburn Tours has the privilege of arranging it!

With last year’s tour held in China, this year geographical educators and both new and experienced teachers will be jetting off to the exotic countries of Singapore and Malaysia. Although we’re celebrating 50 years of creating international geography tours for young people, this is the first time we’re organising the GA’s study tour and we could not be more thrilled!

Our Geography Tours Development Manager, Cath Rule (a.k.a geography guru), has developed this incredible product in conjunction with the Rayburn Tours team to allow you to use your experiences to enhance your teaching of geographical themes, such as global development, urbanisation and urban growth, ecosystems and resource management and sustainability. This once in a lifetime trip will also enable you to develop contemporary and interesting case studies that fall back on the curriculum for you to share with your students. What’s better is that this material will be relevant for teachers who are developing resources for the new exam specifications both at GCSE and A Level.

It’s all about engaging your students and bringing education to life, while bettering yourself as a teacher. This study tour, in collaboration with the GA, provides high quality CPD – fantastic news for newly qualified teachers to help you remain competent and effective in your role, while enjoying the international experience of a lifetime. You will travel with like-minded teachers who are just as enthusiastic about sharing ideas and forming friendships. Whether you’re a newly qualified teacher or you’ve been teaching for years, you’ll receive lots of advice and experience that you’ll be excited to take back to the classroom.

Starting in Singapore and ending in Kuala Lumpur, here’s a peek at what to expect…

  • Journey to show stopping cities where tradition and modernity stand side by side.
  • Encounter some of the most ancient ecosystems in the world as you explore the biodiversity of rain forests and mangrove swamps.
  • Experience the diversity of landscapes, culture, people and food.
  • Consider the enduring struggle to balance development with conservation.

With so much to fit in we’re still tweaking things. Our expert team are regularly speaking to members of the GA International Special Interest Group and still finalising the trip to ensure you get the best experience and value possible. This fantastic trip will take place in July and August 2016 at a guide price of £2,000 (exact dates and price are on their way).

The countdown begins with just 10 days until we officially launch this incredible opportunity! Watch this space…
