It’s been a much more civilised start today! Waking up at 7 am to a glorious sunny morning and stepping out onto the balcony of my 5th floor room at the Soreda hotel to find it’s already a very pleasant 16°C. This morning we’re off to the Splash & Fun waterpark just outside Qawra. This is the perennial favourite with school groups who come to Malta and with a wave pool boasting 1.5 meter high waves, and several large water slides it easy to see why – I was just happy to enjoy over 200 meters of lazy river.

This afternoon it was time to get down to business with the first of the week’s sports fixtures. The Farnley boys set off on foot to the nearby Sirens FC for their eagerly anticipated football match whilst I joined the girls for the trip to Kirkop Sports Complex, home of the Malta Netball Association’s domestic league. Sadly, I couldn’t be in two places at once but there’ll still be a chance to capture some football photos later in the week.

The netball team from Farnley would take part in a round robin tournament, featuring two other British teams and two local Maltese Teams. It was an epic night of back-to-back netball and, although we didn’t go home triumphant on the night, it genuinely was a huge success as, for the first time, the girls experienced a taste of international competition.
