Iceland has always been an amazing destination for any geographer. It’s a magical, breath taking land that will amaze and inspire at every turn. Most people experience only a small corner of south west Iceland but with our new, exciting opportunities now you can experience even more!

Hidden beneath Langjökull is the newly carved Ice Cave. Journey with your students into the heart of Iceland’s second largest ice cap and experience the blue ice buried deep within the glacier, gaze into huge hidden crevasses and appreciate how the layers of ice unravel the mysteries of the past and reveal what might happen in the future. A unique and special opportunity to learn about glaciation from the inside out!

Jokulsarlon (10)Looking for more adventure? Why not explore Vatnajökull National Park. Our new accommodation centres have made this corner of south east Iceland much more accessible. This wild and wonderful, glacio-volcanic landscape is truly spectacular. The Vatnajökull Ice Cap hides at least 7 volcanoes, including Grímsvötn, one of Iceland´s most active and provides an opportunity to learn more about the volatile combination of fire and ice and the destructive power of jökulhlaups or glacial outburst floods.

Walk to the snout of Skaftafellsjökull, take a glacier trek on Svinafellsjökull, hike to Svartifoss or float amongst the icebergs on the Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon. Find out more in this previous blog.
