It’s been a great few days in Iceland this December with Saints Peter & Paul Catholic High School from Widnes. Despite the dark mornings we have been up and away early from Reykavik into the darkness of the interior or coast. Watching sunrise over the snowy landscapes, as the daylight only starts around 10.30am, we have been lucky to have had mainly clear crisp days.
The group have savoured the winter here with ice, snow and strong winds at various times during the week. The highlights? Frozen rivers and waterfalls, car parks like skating rinks, star angels, great hamburgers, a real feel for the glacier as well as the geysers, black beach and basalt!
A last bit of shopping for Christmas presents today before we head back, in the dark of course, in the morning.
Merry Christmas everyone.
