While Rayburn’s ski rep Sophie is no stranger to the slopes, this time she’s snow-bound with Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School to the oh-so beautiful Tarvisio. Spending the next week ankle-deep in snow, tucking in to mouth-watering pizzas (it is Italy after all) and, the best part, sharing the whole experience with a group whose excitement knows no bounds – it’s going to be a week to remember!

Wrapped up in her woollies and collecting her thoughts, Sophie fills us in on day one of Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School’s adventure…

After a long and tiring journey from Manchester, Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School arrived at Tarvisio with bags of enthusiasm and a growing need to get out to the slopes. Once they had refueled with a hearty meal, the group headed up for an early night before the big day.

7:15am rolled around and the group were ready for breakfast, while the anticipation was building for what was (for some) their first time ever on a ski slope. Stomachs filled, it was time for ski and boot fittings – a manic process for all! But once everyone was kitted out, we headed over to the slopes for what everyone was waiting for… ski school!

It was safe to say the morning was a real success. Complete beginners were able to stand up and there were no spectacular falls… with the exception of one boy who threw a snowball at a friend and ended up falling over himself! Something for You’ve Been Framed?

Sledging is on the cards for us tonight which is going to be ‘snow’ much fun! We’re look looking forward to an amazing week with everything else to come, so look out for more updates of Bacup and Rawtenstall’s antics throughout the week!
