Wednesday 17th February 2016

This morning is our final day in Tarvisio – after 6 nights here filming our promotional film for the ski department, it’s now time to say our goodbyes. We’ve seen the very best of Tarvisio, with its picturesque mountains, snow-drenched pistes, thrilling après and delicious food.

The weather has been very kind to us, with sunny days mixed in with heavy snow, giving us the opportunity to capture a variety of looks for the film. The change in conditions has been crazy! These pictures say it all…

Weds 17th Feb – we’re going to need more than just an ice scraper…

And needless to say the pupils and staff of Glenlola Collegiate, Immanuel School, Westlands School, North School, Wigmore School, Bacup and Rawtenstall, St Dunstan’s School, Biggleswade, Jack Hunt School and Archbishop’s School have all been tremendous with us, allowing us to film and share their experiences and laughs of this special ski trip. A special thank you to you all (not forgetting the snowboarders from 17th Colton Scouts).

In the space of 6 days, we’ve climbed up the mountains with our filming gear more times then I wish to remember, we’ve filmed students who at the beginning couldn’t even stand in skis – now skiing blue runs – we’ve visited thermal spas, ice skating rinks, sledging runs and pizzerias, capturing the true essence of what a ski trip means to the schools across the world. It’s been a fantastic journey!

Now the filming is wrapped up (as wrapped up as we’ve been on this trip!), the long process of editing begins back in Derby. We’ve shot over 100 scenes during our trip, and now need to condense them into a 3 minute promotional advert and a 5 minute operational information film.

It’s a daunting task, but one I’m sure the students at the University of Derby will do us proud!

It’s now time to fly home and catch up on a lot of sleep – I hope you enjoy watching the finished films as much as we enjoyed shooting them!
