Seljalandsfoss Waterfall

Seljalandsfoss Waterfall

Iceland has many impressive scenic splendours to enjoy, one being the spectacular Seljalandsfoss.

Falling 65m over old basalt sea cliffs, it’s an exciting sight to behold. It’s possible to walk behind the waterfall and look out through its tumbling waters to the blurred landscape beyond. Its discharge river also exemplifies isostasy with its clear-to-spot river terraces.

However, with increasing visitor numbers, many sites are becoming even more popular and the potential negative impact of this is alarming – the very beauty and tranquillity that people are coming to enjoy could be significantly impaired. Students can evaluate this particular topic while marvelling at one of Iceland’s best known and simply enchanting waterfalls.

This excursion also fits in well with the South Coast Landscapes day.
