Saxholl Crater

Saxholl Crater

Stretch your legs with a walk up to and around Saxholl Crater and witness everything that makes this landscape so dramatic.

Based in Snaefellsjokull National Park, Saxholl Crater is estimated to have erupted 3,000 years ago and much of the surrounding landscape is the result of that eruption. Enjoy an easy climb up the red metal steps to the summit, taking just 5-10 minutes, and be met by some truly spectacular views.

Its collapsed core is fairly deep and the rim offers panoramic views of the rugged terrain of Snaefellsjokull National Park, so cameras at the ready!
