Dambulla Cave Temples

Dambulla Cave Temples

The Dambulla Cave Temples, also known as the ‘Golden Temple of Dambulla’, are a World Heritage Site and the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka.

The caves’ history as a place of worship is thought to date back to around the 1st century BC!

The major attractions are spread over five separate caves, which contain magnificent statues and paintings related to Lord Buddha’s life.
