Sherborne Girls School hit Sestrière’s slopes

Last updated: Apr 16th, 2019

Earlier this month, Sherborne Girls School headed to the Italian resort of Sestrière for a ski trip to remember. With its high-altitude, dramatic mountain landscapes, slopes to suit all levels and fantastic après ski option, snow-sure Sestrière has it all.

Over the week, the girls made great progress, covering many miles ‘flying all over the mountains’ and making happy memories.

Rayburn Tours team member, Joe, accompanied the group as their ski rep. Here are his highlights.

Saturday 30th March

Seeing the beautiful site of the Alps, as we touched down in Geneva. I don’t think I have seen a more picturesque scene.

Sunday 31st March

Remembering how hard skiing really is, whilst accompanying Sherborne Girls School on their beginner lessons. However doing this in the beautiful sun in Sestrière, made it all worth it. The girls were flying.

Monday 1st April

A great day further exploring the slopes with 5 hours of ski lesson with the Sherborne Girls School beginner group. The views have been outstanding and Stefano, our instructor, has looked after us impeccably.

Tuesday 2nd April

This evening I joined teachers and students from Sherborne Girls School for a night out at Pinky’s Pizzeria. This was a great opportunity to chat with the girls their teachers, as well as learning more about their school. What a lovely group to be out here with!

Wednesday 3rd April

My most memorable moment today was experiencing a red run at the top of a mountain, which also involved sliding down the piste on my bottom as I was picking up top much speed on my skis. It was an adventure to say the least!

Thursday 4th April

With the week drawing to a close, Sherborne Girls had a presentation at the ski club where they were awarded with certificates and badges for their week of skiing. Some of the girls’ skills had come on so much and they were enjoying their skiing so much more. On top of that the girls and the teachers from Sherborne had bought all instructors and myself a present. It was very kind and unexpected. The group have been a pleasure all week and I have enjoyed my time with them.
