It doesn’t seem to be Christmas until John Lewis reveal their latest heart-warming Christmas advert to the masses. We also want to spread some Christmas joy, so instead of you having to scour the internet for the latest and greatest adverts, we will share them here in a Christmas Advert 2021 BIG list for you to enjoy.
Let’s start with King of Christmas adverts, John Lewis.
Unexpected Guest – John Lewis & Partners – 2021
Starting with a bus journey home, our startled protagonist witnesses a UFO crash in the distance only to steel himself, don his woolly hat and head out to investigate. Cut to the familiar scene of Christmas decorating and preparation. He seems to be deep in thought about what he saw and returns to the UFO crash site. Queue the music, a soft rendition of “Together in electric dreams.” where our stars begin making a connection, sharing food, pranking each other, and neighbours. Then it comes to the gut-punch. The new friend is preparing to leave. He gifts his extra-terrestrial friend his light-up jumper, and before departing, our alien friend plants a kiss on the cheek of our protagonist. “For a Christmas as magical as your first”, magic.
#BagsOfJoy – Boots – 2021
This film tells the story of Joy, and her bottomless bag of gifts, fitting for every occasion. After receiving a mysterious gift from her nan, it soon becomes apparent that it’s a bit magical, like a mary Poppins-Esque endless bag of goodies. Joy then starts visiting friends and family with the bag continuing to produce precisely the gift they want or need, including eyelashes for a snowman. Finally, the advert leads to a heartwarming moment where Joy uses the bag to gift her nan some perfume, seemingly having sentimental value, ending in a big hug, teary eyes, and a well-trained dog. Great effort Boots.
Percy Pig comes to life – Marks and Spencer – 2021
Marks and Spencer introduce us to a new character, Percy Pig. Voiced by Marvel’s Spider-Man, Tom Holland. Taking a trip through an M&S food hall, the fairy (voiced by Dawn French) and our little piglet Percy discover a selection of Marks and Sparks exceptional Christmas food on offer this year. A playful Christmas advert and a solid contender on this year’s BIG list. Bravo M&S.
It’s the Very best excuse – Very.co.uk – 2021
Very.co.uk command a seat at the table with their Christmas jingle. Christmas this Very year is the best excuse of the year to get festive and get away with some indulgences that may not fly for the other 11 months of the year. Awkward presents in your work secret Santa, unwanted gifts from the family, forgiving past transgressions. A Christmas advert that doesn’t take itself too seriously, with a catchy jingle and fun lyrics. Top work Very!
Go All Out – Sports Direct – 2021
The new Sports Direct Christmas advert is packed full of sporting personalities in their new gear. Two big stand-out names include Emma Raducanu, the up-and-coming tennis star, and the nation’s footballing sweetheart Jack Grealish. A really jam-packed advert, snowball fights and the odd celebrity appearance. Fun, fast-paced and expensive, reportedly costing £6m. Well done, Sports Direct!
The Stepdad – Disney – 2021
Part of Disneys ‘From Our Family To Yours’ campaign, this story follows a character seen in previous years ads all grown up with her family. As Mike (the stepdad) joins the family, he struggles to connect with the Nicoles kids, Max and Ella. At the heart of the story is a very special storybook – a precious item belonging to Max from his birth father. As the ad unfolds, we can see the magic of Disney storytelling and two family traditions colliding. A powerful Christmas advert in which Disney will be pledging $2m of support to the Make-a-wish foundation.
Make the season anything but ordinary – M&S – 2021
Another worthy mention for Marks and Spencer. A short but sweet Christmas advert shows a young woman looking rather fed up in a drab, rainy scene. Queue the distant sound of Christmas cheer as she delves into an underground party scene showing fun, family, and presents.
Baubles to last year! – Argos – 2021
Baubles to last year! This year it’s going to be a BIG one. Argos enters the fray with their Christmas advert. It’s all about going big, forgetting about last year and embracing the hashtag #LifesHereBeReady. A carefree look at Christmas 2021, showing the kids selecting far too many presents. Going all out on the works Christmas jumper day (and desk in this case) and all piling around Grandma’s or that someone specials place this Christmas. A defiant ad and a grand entry into this year’s BIG list.

Welcome to JD Street, ‘the ultimate destination for Christmas’. With an eye-watering amount of celebrity appearances (who’s names I definitely didn’t have to Google). JD’s latest Christmas advert features some big hitters in today’s celeb culture. The keen-eyed will spot KSI, Maya Jama, Aitch, Little Simz, Tobi Brown and Jadon Sancho. A walk through JD street has plenty of trainers and clothes to add to your Christmas wishlist.
