Glyn School’s Multi-Sports Tour to Canada

Last updated: Dec 15th, 2025

Glynn School has a long-standing history of running ambitious sports tours. From annual football and rugby trips to well-loved international destinations, overseas touring has always been a core part of the school’s sporting culture.

In recent years, however, most trips had been within Europe. When the school approached us about organising a larger-scale, long-haul sports tour again, it represented an exciting step forward for their sports programme, and an opportunity to give their students a fresh challenge.

Planning the Tour

Luke Dawson worked closely with Dominic, his consultant, and Kamila, his tour coordinator, to organise a multi-sports tour for rugby and football players on an eight-day tour to Canada.

“Dom has been brilliant, fantastic, really. I have spoken to him loads and he’s always been really supportive.”

Kamila became the main point of contact once the group was travelling, and Luke noted how reassuring it was to have that continuity.

“She was fantastic on the trip. Even when I messaged her on a Sunday, she made sure someone could help us out.”

The Itinerary

The tour itinerary was full of unforgettable experiences, starting with a visit to the Hockey Hall of Fame, followed by a scenic harbour and island cruise, and an authentic slice of North American sport with a community baseball game. Students loved the relaxed, open-field atmosphere, many seeing baseball live for the first time, and several later described it as one of their favourite moments of the trip – all whilst enjoying travel around the city on an iconic yellow school bus.

The next day brought thrills at Canada’s Wonderland and an evening watching Toronto FC vs. Atlanta United, combining adrenaline-filled rides with top-tier football action.

The following morning included football training and fixtures, with technical and tactical coaching from LvlUp Player Development, followed by a visit to the CN Tower for panoramic city views.

The day after was dedicated to fixtures, allowing students to put their skills into practice. The tour concluded with a visit to Niagara Falls, including a city cruise, alongside another fixture.

“Trips like this give them opportunities they just can’t get at home,”

For many of the 44 students who took part in the tour, this was their first long-haul sports tourand the scale of the experience made a noticeable impact. The combination of fixtures against Canadian teams, to the cultural immersion offered something different from the smaller trips the school had run recently.

“If I were to sum up our tour in one sentence, I would say…a fantastic cultural and life experience for the students, with a great mix of sightseeing, food, travel, and fixtures.”

A Step Back into Long-Haul Travel

For Glyn School, the tour marked a confident return to global sports travel. For the students, it offered a challenge and a set of experiences that will stay with them long beyond their school years.
