Following the success of the last two music tours to Paris, 30 music students this summer travelled to Barcelona to perform in the city and impress the locals with their talents.

The students performed in the beautiful surroundings of the artisan market town of Poblé Espanyol and in the coastal town of Pineda De Mar. The choir’s repertoire was a blend of upbeat pop music such as Jessie J’s ‘Price tag’, Pharrell’s ‘Happy’, FUN’s ‘We are Young’ to name a few.

There were also excellent solo performances from Amy McDonough singing Clean Bandit’s ‘Rather Be’, Rhona Butler performing The Calling’s ‘Wherever you go’, Matthew Williams led the choir with Bruno Mars’ ‘Just the way you are’ and Josh Noble sang a heart-breaking rendition of Damien Rice’s ‘The Blower’s Daughter’.

The small jazz ensemble also on your with the group performed classics of ‘Take Five’ and ‘Autumn Leaves’ with Harry Jarvis on Saxophone.

As well as the concerts, there was a packed itinerary for the three day tour, including a tour inside Gaudi’s impressive La Pedrera, visiting Sagrada Familia and a day trip to Marineland; a water park and animal sanctuary. This tour was the best yet and was a wonderful way to celebrate the end of another fantastic year for Loreto’s Visual and Performing Arts departments.
