The Pewsey Belles Tour to Paris

Last updated: Aug 22nd, 2019

This September, The Pewsey Belles embarked on a 4-day choir tour to Paris. Eleanor from the Rayburn Concert team accompanied the choir on tour and tells us all about their concerts at the Luxembourg Gardens, the German Evangelical Church and Disneyland Paris…

Day 1

I met The Pewsey Belles at Dover where we began our trip to Paris. The sun was shining beautifully during our ferry crossing, so much so that the decks were busy with people soaking up the rays! We arrived at our hotel in Paris in the evening and settled down to enjoy our evening buffet meal. Some group members stayed up in the bar afterwards but others were glad to hit the pillow – everyone would need their energy for the 2 concerts the following day!

Day 2

The day dawned on what we could already tell would be another scorching hot day for September. The choir‘s first concert took place in the fabulous Kiosque à Musique (bandstand) in the Luxembourg Gardens. A friendly crowd gathered for the choir’s first outing and the ladies sang beautifully – what a great way to begin a delightful morning of sunshine! We then had free time in Paris and some visited the Sacre Coeur in Montmartre. The day’s second concert was at the German Evangelical Church, where an extremely appreciative audience gathered. Our excellent driver took us back to the hotel past the bright lights of the Eiffel Tower to round the day off in style.

Day 3

We rose bright and early to continue our trip to Disneyland Paris for the final performance of the tour. When we arrived, we met with our Disney Performing Arts Coordinator and the choir was soon busy sound-checking for their morning performance. The professionalism of the Disney Performing Arts truly wowed us as they set about creating a magnificent ambiance with sound and lighting. Following a magical performance, some of the group spent the rest of the day enjoying the thrills of the Disney parks whilst others returned to Paris to explore the city.

We went into Paris in the evening for a lovely last night meal at Les Noces de Jeannette, a traditional Parisian restaurant serving up a tasty menu. There were a few celebratory speeches afterwards to round off the last night of the tour.

Day 4

We spent the morning in Paris around the Champs Elysees for a bit of last minute souvenir shopping before beginning our return journey home. It was a pleasure to accompany the Pewsey Belles on tour – I hope you enjoyed your time in Paris!
