The Market Weighton School’s Ski Trip to Santa Caterina

Seeing the progress so many of our students made, alongside their smiling faces and growing confidence, reinforced exactly why trips like this matter. I have run ski trips for many years—too many to count—but I continue to do them because of the incredible experiences students gain, experiences they may never otherwise have the opportunity to access with their families.

For many students, this is genuinely a life-changing trip. I still regularly meet former students who talk about their ski trip years later and the impact it had on them. In fact, a ski trip is what inspired me to go into teaching in the first place. The two groups I have taken from TMWS have been fantastic—easy to work with, appreciative, and a genuine pleasure to take—and because of that, I have already said I would happily do another.

Santa Caterina is a fantastic destination for school ski trips. I have visited three times previously and continue to return because it offers such a positive experience for students. The resort is small and manageable, which works brilliantly for school groups, but still provides varied skiing suitable for all abilities.

One of the biggest strengths is that students can clearly see the progress they make during the week, which is hugely rewarding for them and for staff. It also feels like a truly authentic Italian resort, which adds another layer to the experience and cultural value of the trip.

The ski school has always been outstanding and consistently gets the very best out of all of our students, regardless of their starting point.

The organisation from Rayburn Tours was excellent throughout. Everything was planned thoroughly and clearly, which made a huge difference.

Our resort representative, Lee, was exceptional. He was always available to support us and genuinely felt like having an extra member of staff with us at all times. Nothing ever seemed too much trouble. A standout example was when he organised last-minute snowboard lessons for one of our students with mobility issues, ensuring they could still fully access and enjoy the experience. That level of care and flexibility made a real difference.
