Good news for schools planning an educational visit to Germany! From 1 August 2026, new arrangements between the UK and Germany will make travelling easier for many schools with international pupils.
Following the ratification of the UK–Germany Friendship (Kensington) Treaty, Germany has introduced a simplified entry process for eligible pupils travelling on organised school trips from the UK. For many students who would previously have needed to apply for an individual Schengen visa, that requirement may now be replaced by a much simpler process.
For schools with diverse student populations, this is a welcome change that could reduce both administration and the time needed to prepare for a trip.
