What happens on the final day of a ski trip (coach edition)?

Last updated: Sep 21st, 2026

After a brilliant adventure of skiing down the snowy slopes, your school ski trip has come to an end – but what happens on the final day?

With the chaotic rush of packing bags, dropping off equipment, and getting ready for a long coach ride back home, the last day is usually considered as a last-minute scramble to get everything organised.

However, it can be made easier if you follow these steps – read more below!

Here how’s your final day can look like…

Wake up and have breakfast

Of course, the first thing that will happen is… staff and students will wake up and enjoy a final breakfast at the hotel. From buttered croissants to fresh orange juice, ensure you’re fully energised for your last day of skiing!

Embark on some last-minute skiing and return equipment

It’s time to shoot down the slopes one last time! After breakfast, head to the mountains with your group – take some photos, enjoy the crisp mountain air, and bid a farewell to the snow-sure trails.

Once you’ve finished skiing, you’ll drop off your equipment and return to the hotel.

Book a late check-out and freshen up

Our top tip is to book a late check-out, if possible, as it means your group don’t have to rush leaving the accommodation.

It also allows students and staff to have one last shower before the long drive home. We recommend that everyone pack an overnight bag the day before – this can include shampoo, soap, a toothbrush, and toothpaste. It would be a good idea to have a ‘communal’ shower gel, just in case anyone had forgotten to bring their own.

Pack food for the journey and have your last evening meal

Head to the local supermarket and purchase some snacks for your coach trip back – whether it’s crisps, bakery items, or fruit, it’s a long way home… so make sure you stock up!

Once you’ve got everything ready for the trip home, enjoy a last evening meal together and reflect on what a fantastic adventure it’s been.

Why a coach tour is beneficial on your last day

Travelling by coach can make the journey home more comfortable and convenient for both staff and students. With fewer restrictions on luggage, there’s plenty of room to pack snacks, drinks and entertainment for the long trip back.

Coaches are also a cost-effective option, and many are equipped with useful facilities such as USB charging points and toilets, meaning everyone can stay comfortable and connected throughout the journey.

Most importantly, travelling by coach allows the group to relax together after a busy final day of skiing, making the journey home a more enjoyable and stress-free experience.

We would go back to the resort again, getting a coach was much better!
