A Skiing Experience to Morzine – Straight from Our Ski Rep!

Last updated: Apr 29th, 2024

Having hand-picked the best school skiing destinations to include in our offering, we’re acutely aware of how iconic France is to ski – and that feeling is epitomised in Morzine.

We recently had one of our experienced Ski Reps return from an incredible school ski trip to the French resort, buzzing from the experience, she’s even come back and gone on to book a return trip with her own family. We think that says it all about the quality of skiing here!

Explore her journey of discovery in Morzine below…

Morzine is the real deal and it’s the most traditional French skiing experience. It’s somewhere the students will remember forever.

The Rayburn Ski Reps

Jess is one of our experienced Ski Tour Consultants, as well as being a Ski Rep for several of our tours. Her role as a Tour Consultant ensures she understands your ski trip wants and needs, and then uses her vast knowledge and skiing experience to recommend the most suitable location for your school and students.

As a Ski Rep, Jess is with you every step of the way when on your skiing adventure, ensuring your trip is as seamless as it was when we put your itinerary together. She’ll communicate with coach drivers, hotels, excursions, ski schools, and everything in between to make sure your experience is above and beyond – just like she did with another recent skiing trip to Canada!

Jess has skied a plethora of locations for us, like France, Italy, and Andorra, so she really understands a great ski resort when she sees one, but she’s just the tip of the iceberg with our Ski Reps. Where we can, we’ll endeavour to include a Ski Rep who speaks the native language on our school ski trips

The resort was incredible and probably the best snow I’ve skied all season.

Iconic & Historic

Morzine is a staple of French skiing history and culture, with sleepy Avoriaz only 10 minutes via coach, and simply put, as a duo they are incredible! Plus, both are part of the massive Portes du Soleil skiing area, which is one of the biggest ski areas in the world, where you can even ski to Switzerland if you wish (we only recommend doing this if your group are advanced skiers!).

There’s beautiful mountain scenery everywhere you look, charming French chalets, classic hospitality, delicious meals, après, and a whole ski resort packed out to provide you with the best skiing experience possible.

Morzine even boasts one of the only pedestrianized skiing areas in Europe, with ski scooters and horse and cart (you read that right) the only modes of transportation – apart from skiing, of course. We love this unique quirk!

Aside from its undeniable French charm, there is a booming British presence, with no language barrier and a ready-made ex-pat community welcoming you with open arms – it’s like a home away from home.

Morzine is super family friendly. It’s easy to see students going back with their own families when they’re older – it’s one of the many reasons Morzine is such a well-known resort.

Accommodation & Après

We go to great lengths to choose the right accommodation for the right group. On this occasion we chose a traditional French Chalet for Jess and the school. Conveniently located and bursting with rustic charm, they experienced an unparalleled level of personal attention from the married couple who managed the property.

“The chalet and the owners were spot on, making the kids feel truly special! Students would return from skiing to find a sweet treat in a basket left for them on their pillows. It was such a nice touch. Small things can make a big difference!” Jessica Seddon, Ski Tour Consultant.

Another reason we know Morzine is simply perfect for our school groups is that the après scene offers something for everyone. From busy restaurants to quieter shops, the group chose a more chilled-out vibe with après at their chalet – which suited them perfectly!

The chalet had everything in it, a big garden, après, with the school being allocated their own après room, where they had quizzes and discos every night. One night we also chose a lovely walk to a local pizza restaurant which was phenomenal!

“The Snow Was Just Perfect”

The school skied the slopes of Morzine and Avoriaz, with the mountainside catering to all abilities. There’s a quick progression for beginner skiers as well, so they can experience the magic of skiing on the slopes even sooner than you might have thought.

Whereas Morzine is typically busier, Avoriaz has quieter ski sides, offering that peace of mind of being able to keep a close eye on your students. You can even store your ski kit at the bottom of the ski lift and leave your picnic bag in heated rooms while on the slopes, so you have that convenience of easily picking your gear up the next day and enjoying a slope-side lunch in a warmer setting after a morning of adrenaline-filled activity.

The English-speaking ski schools and their instructors offered unbeatable skiing advice; with the instructor-class camaraderie the best Jess had ever seen. The school was ESF, which is the premium ski school choice across France, and one of the many reasons we partner with them to instruct our ski groups on our behalf.

The ski school were amazing, and the hints and tips the instructors gave the students were first-class – their tuition was fantastic! Because of that, I had never seen beginner progression like it. The students were so appreciative, so much so, they brought their instructors something nice to drink at the end of their ski trip. It was a nice touch.
