A Look into the Itinerary
Day 1
The tour got off to a start with a travel day, as Rock Choir made their way through Belgium, stopping in Kortrijk to visit the Christmas Market – a welcome chance to stretch their legs after a long journey. From there, the group headed to Flanders Lodge, where they spent the evening settling in and recharging ahead of a weekend full of music!
Day 2
The first full day of Rock Choir’s concert tour! A full day in Ghent with three concerts awaited. Our Marketing team arrived early to meet the group off the coach. After introductions, we all made our way to Our Lady of St Peter’s Church for the first concert of the day – a spectacular venue in a quaint square, where the sound of music from the church bursts into the open air. Excitement was building in the group: lots of selfies, smiles, and a flood of Santa hats! The concert began, and the sound of Rock Choir’s voices bounced off the walls, attracting passersby to sit and watch, creating special moments (including a proposal in the audience!). A successful first performance.
The Santa hats filled the streets of Ghent like a river, following the scent of mulled wine and gingerbread as they made their way to the festive Christmas Market for food.
The next concert took place at Bisdomplein, where the heavens opened; however, Rock Choir’s performance lifted the mood of the public and had everyone singing and dancing in the rain.
As the sun set and the Christmas lights came on, Rock Choir made their way to Kouter Markt, a market square filled with Christmas trees ready for the festive season. As Rock Choir began their performance in front of the sparkling bandstand, members of the public danced behind them, singing and clapping along to popular songs. Some audience members attended all three concerts!
A successful day concluded with an evening winding down at Ypres Christmas Market.
Day 3
The final full day of Rock Choir’s festive concert tour was spent visiting the fairytale city of Bruges, where canals wind through the streets, horse-drawn carriages traverse the cobbled pathways, the smell of Belgian chocolate drifts from quaint shops, and the atmospheric Christmas Market takes centre stage in front of the famous Belfry. The group had free time to explore, enjoy, and soak up the festive atmosphere.
The last concert of the tour took place in St Walburga’s Church, and what a finale it was! Rock Choir’s voices drew people from the streets, culminating in a standing ovation to mark the end of the tour – a concert that became a highlight for members of the choir.
At the end of the day, we waved goodbye to our friends, having been gifted a Santa hat to commemorate becoming a fellow Rockie.
This was a tour none of us will ever forget.
