Sicily: a perfect blend of volcanoes, culture and coastlines
Home to Europe’s most active volcanoes- Mount Etna, Stromboli and Vulcano on the Aeolian Islands chain, Sicily is where you can get up close to Earth’s natural forces and witness dramatic eruptions (from a safe distance, of course!).
This school adventure trip is the ultimate volcanic expedition, where you can ascend Mount Etna’s summit with triumphant views waiting for you, whether by 4×4 super jeep, cable car or on foot. This gives your group a range of spectacular sights from every angle and is sure to leave them in awe.
Another volcano to discover is the Gran Cratere on the Aeolian island of Vulcano. After travelling by hydrofoil, you’ll take part in a guided trek of the volcano before reaching the summit. Prepare to be blown away by the panoramic views that lie ahead!
It wouldn’t be a school adventure trip to Sicily without experiencing traditional Sicilian culture and cuisine. Stop by the Alcantara Gorge, a 150-metre-long geographical gem carved by the Alcantara River, for a refreshing break and a bite to eat. Or step back in time with a visit to Taormina. This delightful town is one of Sicily’s most famous settlements, with shops, restaurants and cafés aplenty. At the top of the town stands an incredible Greek amphitheatre, perfectly framing Mount Etna and the Ionian Sea, an unmissable photo opportunity.
