Day 5/ Back home!

Last updated: Jan 30th, 2019

Wow, cannot believe how quickly the trip has gone!! The evening of day 4 was eventful with our very first Miss/Mr Iceland 2014 competition! This involved lots of crazy outfits with the boys deciding they wanted to dress as girls and the girls deciding that they wanted to dress as boys! There were also some interesting dance moves and wayyy too much fake tan!

On day 5 we woke up to a nice surprise with a fresh sprinkling of snow- cue lots of singing ‘Do you wanna build a snowman’ from the film Frozen! We said a fond farewell to Hotel Ork and then set off for the geothermal power plant. This was really interesting, as we got to learn all about how geothermal energy is made and how it makes up most of Iceland’s energy supply. After this, we made our way into Reykjavik. Unfortunately there was no snow there, but there were lots of lovely views from the top of the Perlan (even if it was rather windy up there!) In Reykjavik we also had time to go shopping and learnt just how expensive it was there (Miss L got a rather nasty shock when she realised that she had paid £15 for two fridge magnets!)

We then made our way to the airport and had a safe flight back to the UK. We even managed a cheeky stop at Burger King on the way back to school and gave out various awards on the coach journey home! We arrived back at TSTC around 11pm, all exhausted, but very happy having spent an amazing few days in Iceland!

Overall, it was an absolutely awesome experience and we look forward to going back in the future!!

Miss L 🙂
