A very early start yesterday morning. We left Brecon at 4:00am to drive to Gatwick. Arrived at the airport at 8:10am to find BHS had their own designated check in desks with Virgin Atlantic. Very impressive. All were checked in and we were through to international departures in no time!!!
Pupils loved shopping in the duty free; they bought converse sneakers, jewellery, sunglasses, perfume… Spirits were high. We made our way to gate 19 to board the plane ‘Ruby Tuesday’ at 10:25 knowing we’d be on here for the next 11+ hours.
Took off at 11:40am. The flight was smooth; very little turbulence and we were all well fed. We had a choice of 3 meals, later followed by ice cream, pizza and afternoon tea! Landed at 2:15 Las Vegas time (10:15pm UK time). Got through passport control very quickly, retrieved our bags and met Sonny our tour guide.
Finally arrived at the Mardi Gras Hotel at 4:10pm so we were able to go to our rooms and freshen up/unpack.
Walked to the monorail station at the convention centre and took the monorail to Harrahs where we were able to buy our 4 day LV monorail passes. By now it was about 6:15pm so we wanted a little retail therapy. Also this was our first taste of the LV strip: WOW!!! Everything was so big and bright and loud!!! Major photo opportunity!
Went to the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace where we had 90mins shopping time before tea at 8:15pm at Planet Hollywood. Great meal at PH but all were so tired after what was a 24+hour day that we were falling asleep at the dinner table.
Left PH at 9:45pm to get the monorail back to the convention centre and got back to the hotel around 10:00pm desperate to get some sleep.
Looking forward to a day of exploring the LV strip and its attractions with our Power Passes on Sunday!!!
