9.35pm on Monday 16th February and I found myself stood outside the Eldhestar Hotel in Hvegerdi watching the majestic Northern Lights glide across a clear black sky. Bright green waves, moving gracefully across the night sky.
I realise how lucky I am when I stand side by side with my colleague Jackie who has visited Iceland numerous times over the last 13 years and tonight is her first glimpse of the elusive Northern Lights!
As I stand in the foyer, a local guide ensures us that as the clouds clear the lights will come back out to play – I’ll sit up all night if I have to just to get one more glimpse!
