The Golden Circle in Iceland!

Last updated: Jan 30th, 2019

It was an early start at the hostel and after a brief 2 hour journey we arrived at the Thingvellir national park. There we were met with stunning scenery and amazing geographical features such as fissures. Our excellent tour guide took us through one of the fissures to the location of the worlds first parliament that met in the year 930AD. We then had the opportunity to take some great photos of the area.

The next stop was Geyser where we had 1 hour to explore the area and watch a geyser erupt every 5 minutes with boiling water and steam. We then went to the souvenir shop and were able to purchase gifts and we experienced Icelandic prices combined with the ripoff effect.

Thereafter we visited Gulfoss waterfall which was truly enormous and an amazing sight indeed!

We finished the day with a dip in a local swimming pool heated by geothermal energy.

It has been a really good busy day.
