Iceland is the ultimate geographers’ playground

Well, what can we say?! As our trip pics show, Iceland is the ultimate geographers playground!

Blown away by Iceland

My Post-16 group from Stanley Park High in Carshalton (Surrey) were blown away by what this explosive island had to offer. From the Blue Lagoon to Gulfoss and the Geysirs to the Black Beach basalt columns, this trip was action packed with outstanding examples of the physical world in action – perfect to inspire and ignite a passion for Geography and the world around them.

Nominated for TES Secondary School of the Year 2016, this was another perfect opportunity for the school to take learning outside the classroom and allow students the opportunity to make their learning real.

Students didn’t want to leave

We managed to cram so much into the itinerary and made use of every single minute that we had. Students enjoyed it so much they just didn’t want to leave, making reference to the fact that they wished the trip was even longer!

“Most definitely one of the best geographical experiences”

Matt Childs (Subject Leader for Geography at Stanley Park High) said:

“The trip was most definitely one of the best geographical experiences we have ever had, from the perspective of the students and us teachers too.

We can not fault the whole process with Rayburn Tours and the detailed knowledge and explanation provided in the field was second to none.

Our students have gained so much as it has brought our classroom learning to life and the students have appreciated it beyond belief.”
