Waterfall (‘what a fall!’) Wednesday

Last updated: Jan 30th, 2019

Another fabulous day began with a short but strenuous climb up Stora Dimon, a volcanic plug in the valley of the Markarflot River. Our breath was taken away again by the fabulous views of the wide braided channel created by the meltwater from under Eyjafjallajokull.

Our next visit was to the magnificent Skogarfoss, optimistic to find Thrasi’s gold but satisfied ourselves with taking away magnificent views instead.

Tearing ourselves away from this lovely site, enticed by the thoughts of glacial trekking, we moved on to Solheimajokull.  It was clear that the older boys were tiring but luckily the younger ones were able to keep up the pace!

Time me for a beach -and where better than Reynishferdi, with its basalt columns?

Last wow factor of the day was the one that had many students jumping through sheer exhilaration.
