We can’t stay away from Wellingborough Community Gospel Choir

After Wellingborough Gospel Choir put on a spectacular show at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, our feet were starting to itch to get back up and

dance along with the singers and join in with some gospel. We took a trip to Northampton’s Royal and Derngate Theatre to watch Northants Sings Out, and what a show it was! Northants Sings Out brings counties together to produce an unforgettable night full of music and vibrancy. Everyone was dancing and singing from the moment the choir stepped on stage, and the room was immediately filled with joy. The most remarkable thing about the format of the event is that the singers are unaware what songs could be thrown at them. It’s all about the focus to produce a masterpiece. One member said, “Some of the songs we didn’t know we would be performing tonight, we have to really focus on the front as some of our songs are chosen on the spot”.

Remarkable voices

Throughout the performance we were treated to a variety of incredible soloists singing some well-known favourites from Tina Turner, ABBA, and Coldplay. The music was bouncing off every wall of the room, and there was no one in the audience who was sat still in their seats. There was movement coming from everywhere, whether this was dancing, or clapping, the audience loved every moment. There were twirls, sways, dancing, and a spot of colour from glowsticks, the engagement between the audience and choir was magical.

Leigh, Sales Consultant

“It was great to see and hear the Wellingborough Gospel Choir, hearing and seeing your clients do their thing is invaluable. Having a complete idea of what they are like means that their next tour will be even more of a success than the last. I already have loads of ideas and can’t wait to see them in action on their next Rayburn Tour.”

Hannah, Tour Coordinator

“Wellingborough Gospel Choir did not disappoint! Having the opportunity to see the choirs we work with perform is something else and we had the best time singing and dancing along with their incredible voices.”

Our very own party leader made her debut

We were treated to an unbelievable solo from our very own party leader who just blew us away with her incredible performance of Thank you for the music by ABBA. She filled the room with bliss and contentment, and by joining in with the singing, we really thanked her for the music.

A good old catch up

The night finished with the same energy we had when we attended the Fringe Festival with Wellingborough Gospel Choir, electric and inspired. After Ruth surprised us with her tremendous singing we had to go and congratulate herself and the other soloists. As we waited at the back of the theatre some familiar faces appeared and came over to have a chat with us, and they were still talking about how the Fringe now has a special place in their hearts. They can’t stop visualising the audience at Greyfriars Kirk. The standing ovation in an iconic church will always be an unforgettable moment for them.

Community Choir of the Year

From planning their first ever tour, to performing sold out shows at the Edinburgh Fringe, Wellingborough Community Gospel Choir have finished the year with wining the best Community Choir of the Year at the Northamptonshire Music Awards. A very well-deserved award and a big congratulations. Thank you for always keeping the music alive!
