History Tour Guides

For even more historical know-how

History tour guides are specialists who have dedicated their careers to researching a specific period in history and sharing their knowledge and insights with the next generation. They can engage students with the emotional stories and experiences of those who lived during that time, providing them with additional context that aligns with the history curriculum.

The guides know the ins and outs of historic sites, the right people, and the best ways to get around to make the most of your tour! With an expansive wealth of expertise gathered over the years, they add extra depth and information that may not be found in the textbooks.

History Tour Guides, what to expect?

  • Large-scale knowledge of your destination, sites, and period of history
  • Logistical aid to make sure of the smooth running of your carefully planned, tailor-made itinerary
  • Lots of real-life accounts, stories, poems, facts, and figures to keep your students gripped from start to finish
  • Ability to take you to lesser-known sites that are specific and relevant to your group

A benefit of having a History Tour Guide is the sharing of our knowledge and personal stories– we have articles and letters from people that were there. We keep alive some of the lesser-known stories of our past.

Personalised tour experiences for your group and educational needs

We’re all about giving you the personalised feeling and this doesn’t stop when it comes to our tour guides! Your tour guide will introduce themselves to you before you embark on your tour, and then you’ll work together so they can find out more about your student’s learning needs. From here they’ll have the background they need to offer your group a truly personalised school history tour experience.

They’ve done their research on your group

Wherever they can, our history tour guides will tailor your tour to make it personal to your group. They know it’s important for students to connect to the history they are learning about, so the guides will include site visits, stories, and retellings of events that link to the student’s age and background, making it an inclusive tour for all.

What’s more, if one of your students lost a family member in one of the conflicts, they’ll aim to find their resting place or their name in the memorial book. Also – for a memorable moment for the whole group – they can even lead a wreath-laying ceremony to pay respects to the late family member.

Knowing the different backgrounds and cultures of a class means the tour can be tailored to that class. It’s that personalisation of the tour.

Flexibility with your itinerary

Our history tour guides know the tour area like the back of their hand, meaning they are able to adapt and be flexible to any itinerary changes. Whether it be providing additional information at a site visit, answering students’ questions about a specific topic, or adding in a stop as it relates to the student’s learning, they are on hand to ensure the tour can run as smoothly as possible.

So, just think of them as part of your teaching team – the on-site specialist!

What our party leaders have to say:

Richard was quite simply outstanding! He very quickly became part of the group and really brought the history to life. The work he had done, prior to the visit, on our past pupils was brilliant. We will definitely be requesting him again for our next visit to the Battlefields.

Trevor was brilliant. At all times he checked we were happy about what we were doing. He accommodated little changes to help make the pupils happy. He was very knowledgeable about Berlin, telling us extra information all the time, which enhanced the tour

Both History Tour Guides were incredible! Fantastic knowledge, great interaction with both staff and students, and clearly love what they do.
