Wales v Fiji Hospitality Day
The Angel Hotel, Cardiff
Saturday 15th November 2014
Rayburn Sports Tours welcomed 77 clients, colleagues and special guests to our hospitality afternoon held at the iconic Angel Hotel opposite Cardiff’s superb Millennium Stadium. Covering two rugby themed occasions, the event doubled as a live viewing of Wales v Fiji in the Dove Men Series Autumn internationals and the soft launch of our Lions 2017 supporters’ tour to New Zealand and Fiji, which surpassed its initial capacity with advanced registrations.
Organised in conjunction with Tourism Fiji, our stopover partners on the 2017 tour, guests were treated to an exhibition of warrior dancing and welcomed to the occasion through a traditional kava drinking ceremony.
Thanks to a generous donations from our partners at Tourism Fiji, Captain Cook Cruises and First Landing Resort, a raffle prize of a luxury holiday for two to Fiji (worth over £4500!) helped raise £1000 for The Wooden Spoon and The Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre. The winner, Mr C Brown, admirably donated an extra sum to the charity upon receipt of this wonderful prize.
Rayburn Sports Tours manager, Mark Gardner, was delighted with the day’s success, saying; “To entertain such a hospitable crowd in this wonderful hotel made for a very enjoyable day all round. Sadly, the Welsh performance mirrored prior autumn campaigns against Pacific island nations, but let’s not lose sight of the wonderful gains from the day, which included a tremendous £1000 raised for two excellent charities.”
Our clients were equally impressed, with Mr A Henry, Lions 2017 tourist, commenting; “I just wanted to say what a fantastic event Mark and Rayburn Sports Tours arranged in Cardiff over the weekend and well done to everyone who made it possible. From the moment we arrived it was very well organised and everyone I have spoken to was very impressed.”
