Day 2- Hills Road Sixth Form College

Last updated: Aug 22nd, 2019

Today began bright and early in preparation for our travel across Sicily to the magnificent Aeolian Islands.

At Milazzo we took the hydrofoil passing Stromboli and Lipari as we journeyed to Vulcano. Named after the ‘God of Fire,’ Vulcano was our place of interest and the island we were soon to explore. Pietro, our Vulcano expert guide met us off the hydrofoil and we started our climb up the Gran Cratere. We learnt about the tectonic movement, volcanic activity and geology as we walked referring to the work booklets as we went. Once reaching the summit the panoramic view of the volcanic landscape could be seen in its full splendor.

Following the trek, it was time for some relaxation! An ice cream followed by a trip to the thermal mud pools and beach before heading back in time for tea.
