Capri Sun

Last updated: Jan 30th, 2019

Today the Danetre and Southbrook Learning Village group and I spent a glorious day on the Island of Capri. Today there was not a cloud in the sky and temperatures reached about 30°C, so once everyone had applied plenty of sun cream we were off to meet our mini bus that took us to Sorrento Marina. Soon after we were on the ferry and heading across the Gulf of Naples to Capri.

At last we arrived at the busy marina on Capri and we headed to another boat that would take us on a tour around the island. The sea was beautifully blue and it was lovely to be sat in the sun as the crew and the teachers from Danetre and Southbrook Learning Village explained the major sites and the geographical features of the coast line.

Once we were off the boat it was time to head up to Anacapri to get on the chair lift up to Monte Solaro. It amazes me how anyone can get anywhere in Italy with all the manic driving skills that are simply everyday life to the locals, but we made it safely to Anacapri around some tight hairpin bends.

Next was my  favourite part – taking the chairlift up to Monte Solaro. It was so peaceful going up on the chairlift and the reviews were stunning to, but the views waiting for you at the top are just the icing on the cake. After taking in the views around the island from the top of Monte Solaro and taking full advantage of the photo opportunities we started to make our way back to the marina.

Once at the harbour we had a little time to kill before getting back on the ferry to Sorrento which was perfect for sitting in a shaded street café with an ice cold drink and people watching.

A visit to Capri should be on everyone’s itinerary if they are going to Sorrento.
